What is OPG?
OPG, or Orthopantomography, is a special type of dental X-ray that provides a wide panoramic view of the jaws, teeth, and surrounding structures. It is widely used to assess oral health, detect dental issues, and plan treatments such as braces, implants, and extractions. The test is safe, quick, and non-invasive, with minimal radiation exposure.
Why is OPG Important?
OPG helps dentists and specialists detect hidden dental and jaw conditions at an early stage. It is useful in diagnosing:

What does an OPG Test Involve?
The patient bites gently on a plastic device to position the jaw.
A low-dose radiation scanner rotates around the head to capture detailed 2D images.
The test is painless, quick (usually under 5 minutes), and does not require anesthesia or sedation.
What to Expect:
The OPG test is simple and performed in an outpatient setting. You will be asked to stand still while the machine rotates around your head. The process is comfortable and safe, with results available quickly for diagnosis and treatment planning.
